Education

The education system in our country has transformed with time, still, we believe there are flaws and it’s only because of our corrupted intentions. Every society has good and bad energy, and people with good motives are often suppressed by these bad influences but ignoring all odds, we intend to move forward until we succeed in eliminating evil faces beneath the veil of morality.
Our honesty lies in changing the mentality and making education affordable and accessible because the focus should always be on increasing the literacy rates and not just the business. Everyone deserves to get at least the basic parts of education so that they become aware of themselves.
We believe that children must be taught how to think not what to think.

We strive to provide education to children who don’t have access to formal education. With our purest intentions, we’ve been successful in rescuing children and providing them the opportunity to reshape their lives and attend school. So far, we’ve seen the potential of each child, their uniqueness, and the inquisition to learn more. As their well-wisher, we want to be a little greedy about their education, we wish to see them shine in their own ways and change the world as they behold its beauty.

Health Camp

Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha also has the objective of helping sick patients who cannot afford basic healthcare. Mr. Bala Ram Rai has been suffering from urine blockage for the past ten years. He belongs to a remote village in Gorucharan in district Kalimpong. Due to the urinal blockage, he survives with the help of a urinal pipe for the past six years. Every month he has to travel to Kalimpong district hospital to change the urinal pipe and it has only been possible due to the help of neighbors from his village as reported by one of his neighbour Mr. Ganesh Rai. The expenses incurred every month for his treatment involve an amount ranging from Rs.5000 to Rs.10000. So, Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha came forward to help him with a sum of Rs.5001. Mr. Bala Ram Rai was grateful for the financial help granted to him.

Women Empowerment

The most significant rule of survival is self-dependency. In a country like India, where illiteracy and unemployment have shattered uncountable lives leading to poverty and enervation, it is certainly paradoxical to even think about political support. There are millions of school and college dropouts, endeavoring to fulfill their financial necessities and so relinquished their longings in hopelessness.
It is our motto, to extract them from their tenebrosity and pour the credence of hope that beholds a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.
Through skill development trainings, we have ameliorated their living standards and taught them to dream again and again and never lose hope.

Covid 19 Distribution

During the pandemic, the lower division of people was most affected. As they had no means of earning the meager income for the daily supply of food and clothes. Also, they were not quite aware of the importance of basic hygiene and the precautions to be taken to protect themselves from the deadly virus. Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha took the initiative to distribute rations to below the poverty line people in the Hills and the adjoining Dooars area. A weekly ration was distributed and these supplies were bought by our members and from the local people, without any funding from the government organization. We also distributed soaps, sanitizers, hand wash, masks, and edible goods. The distribution of rations was carried on for a period of three months.
In the rise of the covid-19 virus, the members of Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha took the initiative to sanitize the whole area surrounding Lava

Bazaar, along with some of the volunteers of the place. They took all the necessary precautions and distributed surgical face masks to the general public there. This sanitization campaign was done for few times in a month, along with the awareness program, and the public response was pretty good.

Animal Shelter

Animal Birth Control and Vaccination Camp were held at Lava by Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha in association with Kalimpong Goodwill Animal Shelter. Free treatment was provided for all the community cats and dogs. Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates its heat cycle, which can last twenty-one days, twice a year, in dogs, and anywhere from three to fifteen days, three or more times a year, in cats. Unaltered animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems than those that have been spayed or neutered. Spaying female dogs and cats eliminate the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer. Neutering male dogs and cats reduce the incidence of prostate cancer. Spayed and neutered animals are less likely to fight and bite as they no longer roam around to look for a mate. They stay at home and have fewer chances of being involved in traumatic

Awareness Program

Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha also conducted awareness programs to educate people on the importance of basic hygiene such as washing hands regularly, wearing face masks, using hand sanitizer, keeping social distance, and the benefits of vaccination. This awareness program is still carried on at regular intervals especially when people have stopped taking necessary precautions. Convincing villagers to get vaccinated also has become necessary as they are reluctant to get vaccinated in the rise of false rumours spreading about the vaccine.

Disaster Management

During monsoon, the Hills receive heavy rainfall and due to the terrain, the area is prone to landslides. Disaster management is of utmost required during this period and relief provided by various other organizations is not adequate. Many houses are damaged which leads to people being displaced. These people need shelter in the form of temporary makeshift homes, waterproof sheets to cover their leaking roofs, food and basic first aid is required. We can exactly identify such prone areas and plan ahead for such relief. This is a very sensitive issue and the problem of the hills really needs to be addressed. So far, all social funds have been managed by our board members. We are now looking for funds to implement our plans as mentioned above for a longer period of time and with a larger impact.

Cloth Distribution

The winter has been very cold and the dropping temperatures add to the vulnerability of families who are increasingly unable to provide for their children’s basic needs, including winter clothes. To support families struggling to keep their children warm Nawadeep Seva Sanstha in coordination with Kumai Welfare Society collected quality clothes from generous contributors and distributed them to the people of Sonali Tea Garden under Bagrakote G.P.

Sports

Nawadeep Sewa Sanstha also encourages young individuals in the field of sports by providing them with some basic things like bats, balls, football, basketball, and snacks during their practice time. Also in the cultural field, by giving them dance lessons, providing free singing classes, and giving access to various musical instruments to hone their skills and talents.
